Dav Pilkey

The following conversation takes place weekly:

Student: Can you help me find Captain Underpants # 9, Super Diaper Baby # 2, and Ricky Ricotta #8?

Mr. Schu: I am sorry, but they are not out yet.

Student: But it says "COMING SOON" in the back of the books. Let me show you.

COMING SOON (for a long time)

Mr. Schu: Yes, I know. Let's look at Dav Pilkey's website. (We explore Dav's website and, after much persuading, the student finally believes me.)

Student: Will you please let me know when the books arrive?

Mr. Schu: You bet!

You can imagine the squeals of delight when I shared this video with Harold Hutchins and George Beard's groupies.

Visit my library between 8:00-8:30 and you'll see kids on Dav Pilkey's website. It is the most popular author site among first through third graders. Check out Dav's Groovy Games.

Scholastic's Planet Pilkey has interactive activities for Captain Underpants, Ricky Ricotta, and Ook and Gluk.

Not surprisingly, Dav Pilkey had a lot of "behavior problems" during elementary school. He spent a lot of time in the hallway.

Chorus:
Go! Poopypants Go! Poopypants

Verse 1
He had a brilliant mind---
Inventing things to help mankind.
He wanted to unfurl
His secrets to the world.
But everywhere he came
They all laughed at his name.

Chorus:
Go! Poopypants Go! Poopypants

Verse 2
They laughed him out of town
And tried to bring his spirits down.
But now he’s teachin’ school -
and he might just keep his cool
If they don’t drive him insane...
By laughing at his name...

Professor PP: (spoken)
“Hello boys and girls… please take your seats…
It’s time for class to begin… that’s right… very good…
Now, I’m going to be your new science teacher.
My name is Professor Pippy P. Poopypants, and I---“

Children:
HA-HA-Ha-Haw-Haw… (continues until end)

Professor PP: (shouting)
“Alright, settle down, boys and girls… that’s quite enough…
It’s not that funny, let me assure you.
Alright, I’m going to count to ten and… uh… One, two… three…
PLEASE STOP LAUGHING!
I’m not going to tell you again!
It’s NOT FUNNY!
Stop it RIGHT NOW!!!
I’m going to get my revenge if it’s the last thing I do!

Chorus:
Go! Poopypants Go! Poopypants
Verse 3
Now the world is going to end ‘Cuz the Gerbil Jogger two thousand
Is coming to your town
To shrink ev-ery-one down ---and if we don’t change our names
We’ll never be the same…
‘Cuz Professor Poopypants
Will shrink us all like ants
Without Captain Underpants
We haven’t got a chance!

Chorus:
Go! Poopypants Go! Poopypants
