The I'm Bored Trifecta

It's time for another exciting Sharp-Schu trifecta. Today, we are celebrating Michael Ian Black and Debbie Ridpath Ohi's I'm Bored. Are you ready to follow seven "unboring" steps?

Isn't it one of the most original book trailers you've ever seen?

How cool is it that Zoe, the star of the book trailer, and her father agreed to record their responses to my interview questions? I believe this is the first time I have ever formally interviewed someone under the age of 10. Thank you, Zoe and Errol.

The following images were used with Debbie's permission.

Here are the lyrics for the song:

I'M BORED
Words & music by Debbie Ridpath Ohi & Errol Elumir
Sung by Zoe & Errol Elumir - Keyboards by Errol (DebsandErrol.com)

Inspired by I'M BORED, a picture book written by Michael Ian Black
and illustrated by Debbie, coming out from Simon & Schuster Books
For Young Readers in Sept/2012.

VERSE 1 (sung by Zoe):
C Am
Can't believe, another hour is crawling by
C Am G F
Can't conceive how time is slow I think I'll die
G Am
Nothing to play with and nothing for me to see
F G C
My life is full of ennui.

VERSE 2 (sung by Zoe):
Can't believe, I totally don't know what to do
Can't conceive how other kids can make it through
mind-numbing woe & nowhere to go
and all I got is this….potato?

CHORUS:
F G Am F
I'm Bored, really really really bored,
F G C
I'm bored, I'm BORED.

  4. Too cute. I don't know who I like better-the kid or the spud. Kid is pretty great actor.

  7. I became an Errol fan last November when I ran across the debs&errol duo through NaNoWriMo. Now I am also a Zoe fan. Love @inkyelbows illustrations! I laughed out loud when I read it. I'm eager to share it with students.

  8. I'm not sure. Is one supposed to have quite this much fun talking about a book? My childhood librarian just might be rolling over in her card catalog.
