The Newbery Challenge: Shadow of a Bull

Colby Sharp and I are readers on a mission to read every single Newbery Medal.  Shadow of a Bull is the subject of today's video post. Happy watching!

Visit Colby's blog to watch his Shadow of a Bull video.

"Shadow of a Bull has already shown up ’round these parts, drawing comparisons to Dwight Schrute’s shirt as Unfortunate Cover #15. Today a gauntlet-shaped dust jacket has been thrown down as it is the next cover I must redo in my mildly fun attempt to re-jacket every Newbery-winning book." - Travis Jonker

Borrow Shadow of a Bull from your school or public library. Whenever possible, please support independent bookshops

  1. Really enjoyed your video, especially seeing the Fall colors. Here in AZ it's still been over 100 degrees this first week of October. Although, I have to say, 43 degrees does sound pretty chilly. Liked hearing the geese in the background, too.
Last weekend I watched Jack Gantos' Newbery medal acceptance speech, and that got me thinking about trying to read all the Newbery winners (at least- and possibly the Honor books as well). Was stunned to see Charlotte's Web was "only" an Honor book.
    Thanks again for your post.

  2. You should be a part time tour guide! :) Loved your book bag -- does it come from a company that makes other book-themed items?
