Video of the Day: JJK's Virtual Workshop

Jarrett J. Krosoczka (AKA JJK or Mr. Fantastic Illustrator) comes up with creative and innovative ways to connect with readers and classrooms. On September 18, 2012, Jarrett hosted a virtual comics workshop to celebrate the release of Lunch Lady and the Picture Day Peril. He worked collaboratively with the audience to make a new Lunch Lady adventure.  Thank you, Jarrett, for putting together the following recap.

Please visit Jarrett's website to learn more about his virtual and in-person visits.

Borrow Lunch Lady and the Picture Day Peril from your school or public library. Whenever possible, please support independent bookshops.

  1. Thank you, Mr. Schu! Here are the comics that were created that day. After the workshops were over, I scanned in the artwork, colored the pages digitally and typed out the text that the kids wrote. http://www.studiojjk.com/llminicomicsfromvirtualworkshop.pdf

  2. I currently have students writing their first graphic novels. The video is a great mentor for them.

    Thanks!

  3. JKK is definitely a favorite! Punk Farm = AWESOMENESS! (So disappointed the movie fell through.) I remember the first time I shared the books and the music with a class in the library. We had "The Wheels on the Van" turned up pretty loud and the kids were rockin' out (okay, they were basically slam dancing; you know what 2nd graders are like!) when all of a sudden the door opened and a police officer walked in! Were we busted for disturbing the peace? No, it turns out he was there for a different reason (whew!) but I'm sure the kids will never forget that library storytime! http://www.punkfarm.com/song.html
