I'm Gonna Push Through! by Jasmyn Wright and Shannon Wright

Happy Friday! I am excited to share my interview with Jasmyn Wright and Shannon Wright, the team behind I'm Gonna Push Through! I wrote the words in purple, Jasmyn wrote the words in black, and Shannon write the words in green. Thank you, Jasmyn and Shannon!

Shannon Wright’s cover illustration for I’m Gonna Push Through! is beyond amazing! It does a wonderful job in showing diversity that can unite children rather than separate them. Oh, and I LOVE the Push Through hands!

President Barack Obama, Marley Dias, Julian Felipe Herrera, Mirai Nagasu, and SO MANY MORE, are examples of exemplary figures who've overcame challenges in their lives.

I hope I’m Gonna Push Through! inspires and empowers children and adults all over the world to BELIEVE in themselves, their gifts, and their purpose! The idea is for the book to be read and recited in call-and-response style, just like the push through mantra.

The Push Through Organization is a non-profit corporation that was inspired from a mantra that went viral with my former 3rd grade students, from Philadelphia, PA, back in 2016. After noticing the global spread of Push Through in classrooms, the organization was created to educate, advocate, and empower people and organizations to operate in their greatness. We offer partnerships, school curriculum, keynotes, and staff training workshops. You can visit us online at www.wepushthrough.org

Jasmyn Wright’s manuscript for I’m Gonna Push Through! is very powerful and is going to be reaffirming for so many kids! She has managed to give a sense of hope to those facing adversity through her words.

Marlee Matlin, Maria Tallchief, Marsha P. Johnson, Cesar Chavez, and Toni Morrison!

Riverview Elementary School is my elementary school and Broad Rock Elementary School is the first school I visited for Career Day! Riverview, specifically my art teacher Mrs. Flues, encouraged me to never give up on art and PUSH THROUGH any frustrations I had through that medium. Broad Rock welcomed me with open arms, from the staff, faculty, teachers and students, and made me fall in love with my career even more. This book is special and it's a big "thank you" gift to those two schools.

Picture books are necessary! They were transformative for me growing up and I hope more kids have access to them!

Look for I'm Gonna Push Through! in February 2020.

Based on the Push Through movement that inspires kids worldwide, this is an empowering, energetic, and all-inclusive picture book that celebrates resilience in the face of adversity.

Hold your head high. No matter what stands in the way of your dreams, remember this: YOU can push through anything!
If someone tells you it’s too hard, don’t you ever listen. You tell them,
“I’m gonna push through!”

Inspired by a mantra written for her third-grade students, Jasmyn Wright’s uplifting call to “push through” is an invitation to young readers to announce their own power and to recognize and reaffirm that of others, regardless of setbacks. Her empowering words not only lift children up, but show them how to lift themselves up and seize their potential.
