And the other student won. Oh the mortification and disappointment. Nickel, of all things... I thought I wouldn't have a chance, but I won! I went on to the Kentucky state spelling bee. I got out on the word "edifice", but as my parents and I were leaving the auditorium, they recognized me as being the last 5th grader left in the competition. Like Abby Cooper, my friends and classmates wished me well and cheered for me as I left school to go participate in the state spelling bee. I got choked up. I was always a voracious reader, so I know that's how I could spell so well.<br />Tara Isleynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1045172818169562594.post-87095991977133558542016-09-20T12:15:21.875-05:002016-09-20T12:15:21.875-05:00I enjoyed this very much.I enjoyed this very much.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1045172818169562594.post-55829993348050867872016-09-20T10:29:42.299-05:002016-09-20T10:29:42.299-05:00In grade school, we took a 50 word written spellin...In grade school, we took a 50 word written spelling test in 4, 5 and 6 grade to qualify for the spelling bee. In 5th grade, I got out in the 2nd round. In 6th grade I was the runner up because I spelled conductor wrong. I will never, ever forget how to spell conductor because of that day!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
