I Love Babymouse
I love circulation and item reports. Every Friday afternoon, like clockwork, I print a top circulated items report. Guess who is always at the top of the list? Babymouse!!! (Typical.) Thank you, Jennifer and Matt Holm, for turning dozens of non-readers into readers.
My first and second graders love Babymouse's website. Munch Mouse is their favorite game.
Have you read the entire series?
Cupcake Tycoon is my favorite Babymouse book. Read it while eating Tycoon Cupcakes topped with Fit-For-A-Billionarie-Frosting!
Jennifer was having a "Babymouse Day" when an irritable mouse popped into her head. She drew her on a napkin and gave it to Matt (which he lost).
Jennifer Holm discusses graphic novels and comic books. She recommends Eric Wight, Jimmy Gownley, and Jarrett J. Krosczka.
Jennifer's website contains biographical information, summaries of her books, and book discussion guides.
Matt posts information on his blog about Babymouse and graphic novels. Check it out!An educator's guide to graphic novels-- Babymouse, and Lunch Lady, and Stone Rabbit,
These are great interviews and resources. I think one of the great things about these books is that they appeal across age and grade levels. My fifth grader discovered them last year and loves them. They also were a way to get into comfortable with the graphic genre and move into other more complicated titles.
