Seven Generous Authors
Shannon Miller and I created the Celebrating the Power of Words and Stories Through Connections wiki to connect classrooms, young people, and authors on this special day. Fifteen educators joined and set up connections throughout their school day. We will use Skype to connect with schools in Michigan, Iowa, Maine, Texas, Ohio, and Singapore. Students will discuss how literacy differs around the world and will complete a number of activities that celebrate the right to read.
Another highlight of the day will be Skyping with seven generous authors: Linda Urban, Laurel Snyder, Jennifer Trafton, Donna Gephart, Dee Garretson, Sarah Prineas, and Katie Davis.
Students will gain a deeper understanding of the World Read Aloud Day motto--Words Change Worlds.
Read the first chapter of Jennifer Trafton's debut novel.
The Magic Thief series by Sarah Prineas
Katie Davis shows us what being a children's author is really like.
I'm delighted to be part of this special day to celebrate reading, writing and the power of our stories.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED Katie Davis's video about the dream life of an author. Oh, so true! While I don't have to shovel snow here in Florida, the laundry and dirty dishes are threatening to take over the planet!
Thank you, Donna! I cannot wait to connect with you.
