Stuck by Oliver Jeffers
My first read-aloud with third grade is always Oliver Jeffers' The Incredible Book Eating Boy. It lends itself to discussions about all the books they will read throughout the year, the importance of moderation, and the awesomeness of Oliver Jeffers.
In Jeffers' latest picture book, Stuck, poor Floyd's red kite is stuck in a tree. What's Floyd to do? Hurl items at the kite, of course! He tosses everything (including the kitchen sink) up in the tree trying to rescue it. Will Floyd's kite ever become unstuck?
Kids will check out this wacky tale again and again. Thank you, Oliver Jeffers, for another energetic picture book that's perfect for storytime.

Oliver Jeffers share what didn't make the final cut.
Oliver Jeffers talks about the pencil-line legs in his illustrations.
