It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 7/9/12
Jen and Kellee over at TeachMentorTexts.com host a weekly meme called "What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA." It encourages folks to share what they read during the previous week and to share what they plan on reading during the current week. I am borrowing Mr. Colby Sharp's format. Thanks, Jen, Kellee, and Colby!
The book trailer for Natalie Merchant's forthcoming picture book, Leave Your Sleep, makes me think of my mother. You see, if I close my eyes and listen to the sounds of my childhood, I can hear 10,000 Maniacs and Natalie Merchant playing in the background. My mom must have played Merchant's Tigerlily album at least 1,000 times.
On November 13, 2012, you'll find me at Anderson's Bookshop buying copies of Leave Your Sleep for my mom, my library, and my nieces.
I re-watched the book trailer for Nanny Piggins and the Wicked Plan because it hits shelves tomorrow. Pick up a copy at your local bookshop.
How fun! Stefan Bachmann composed an original score for his debut novel, The Peculiar. I look forward to buying this interesting-looking novel on September 18, 2012.
The Door in the Wall by Marguerite De Angeli
Amos Fortune, Free Man by Elizabeth Yates
LEAVE YOUR SLEEP is a book I must have. Perfect for Reader's Workshop, poetry unit, etc. I think Natalie Merchant's voice goes so well with the illustrations. Thanks for posting the trailer.
ReplyDeleteI am reading "The Emerald Atlas" by John Stephens. So far, I've really enjoyed it!

I am currently reading THE GREAT UNEXPECTED, by Creech. Ager that I think I will move on to IRON HEARTED VIOLET, by Barnhill.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be buying the Natalie Merchant picture book for my sister who loved Natalie Merchant and Edie Brickell and listened to their albums over and over.
ReplyDeleteHappy #nerdbery reading this week! :)
The book trailers all make me want to read the book. Love the anecdote about your mom. :)
