Author-Illustrator Luciana Navarro Powell

Colby Sharp and I gave Luciana Navarro Powell's My Dad Is the Best Playground the Sharp-Schu trifecta treatment on June 10, 2012. I'm thrilled to welcome back Luciana to celebrate her latest book, My Mom Is the Best Circus. I wrote the words in red, and she wrote the words in black. Thank you, Luciana!

My Mom Is the Best Circus celebrates mothers of the world in their daily show under the big top - a.k.a. Home! From ring master to magician, there is not an act they can't perform!

I hope My Dad Is the Best Playground can make kids love their dads even more - and if by reading it they get one or two new ideas for dad playground time, even better!

Book trailers are a fun way to promote your book. Producing a book trailer forces you to get to the essence of the book and show it in a minute or so - synthesis is challenging but rewarding!

I illustrated Megan E. Bryant’s board book dino series - "Alphasaurus", "Colorasaurus", "Shapeasaurus" and "Countasaurus". The most fun part was to research what the most obscure dinos - like the Xiaosaurus - looked like, and find out that sometimes all that scientists have of a dinosaur is a leg or hip bone!

The Spatter and Spark app tells the adventures of an inventor girl fox called Spark and her friend, an artist porcupine called Spatter. Spark's crazy inventions were inspired by Rube Goldberg's contraptions!

Reading is
living many lives in just one!

Picture books are like a loving couple (words and images) that can't be apart and complete each other's sentences!

Mr. Schu, you should have asked me about what kind of project I am working on right now -  illustrations for Math games that hopefully my son will use when he is in second grade, and illustrations for a novelty book written by a friend of mine!

I am giving away two copies of My Mom Is The Best Circus.

Rules for the Giveaway

1. It will run from 5/6 to 11:59 P.M. on 5/8.

2. You must be at least 13.

3. Please pay it forward.
