Author-illustrator Claudia Boldt

I am super excited to celebrate the first day of Picture Book Month with author-illustrator Claudia Boldt! She  chatted with me about picture books, book trailers, her studio, and the power of picture books. I wrote the words in red, and Claudia wrote the words in black. Thank you, Claudia!

You're a Rude Pig, Bertie tells the story of a pig who falls in love and love brings out the better side of him.

The book trailer for You’re a Rude Pig, Bertie is cute and wasn’t made by me. I have to thank North South for it. I really have to learn about making book trailers. My New Year’s resolution for 2014!

If you visited my studio you would like the view:
big sky and sunsets over East London.

Picture books are not only for children. It’s a shame they have this reputation. Visual literacy is definitely underrated. Let’s change it!

Peanut is a sausage dog who cannot stop thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Or can he?

Reading opens up new perspectives and possibilities. I need to take more time for reading. It is sometimes difficult not to be caught up in constant making and running errands.

Mr. Schu, you should have asked me about my other new book: Melvin, the unluckiest Monkey in the World. Have a look if you like my other work.
