Happy Picture Book Month!

Dear Reader,

Happy Picture Book Month! I LOVE Picture Book Month. No! I REALLY love Picture Book Month. I've been counting down the days until November 1 for eleven months.

During Picture Book Month, my students will...

*read TONS of picture books. (Readers can check out as many picture books as they want.)

*set Picture Book Month reading goals.

*use Biblionaisum to keep track of the books they read.

*Skype with virtual friends about Picture Book Month.

*see various Picture Book Month announcements around the library and school, including...

-the official Picture Book Month calendar

         -Picture Book Month bookmarks.

        -a Picture Book Month flyer

-excerpts from Picture Book Month essays

*participate in a Mock Caldecott with Mr. Colby Sharp's students. We will Skype throughout the month and possibly connect via Edmodo

I hope you have fun celebrating Picture Book Month!

Happy reading!

-Mr. Schu

  3. I love picture book month! Granted I'm partial to picture books since I write them but that shouldn't matter. The truth is I think we move our kids away from picture books and into chapter books too soon. The visual along with the words are so important to language development. I still read picture books to my 8yr old even though he is reading chapter books by himself.
