Cover Reveal: Hibernate with Me by Benjamin Scheuer and illustrated by Jemima Williams

I'm excited to share the cover for Hibernate with Me, the debut picture book by award-winning singer/songwriter Benjamin Scheuer and illustrated by Jemima Williams, artist/writer who worked for nearly a decade on the BAFTA Award–winning animated show Peppa Pig. Based on a soon-to-be-released song written by Scheuer for Williams, his wife, Hibernate with Me is a gentle reminder that no matter how sad, small, or scared you feel, you are always worthy of love, and that brighter days are always ahead.

Hibernate with Me follows Big Bear and Small Bear through the seasons, and shares a story of love—steadfast, gentle, and strong. 

“I wrote the song ‘Hibernate with Me’ for Jemima when she was going through the difficult process of emigrating to New York from her native UK,” says Scheuer. “I wanted to give her a hug in songform; now, with her beautiful illustrations, she’s created a hug in picture form.”

Williams adds, “Sometimes as a child (and as an adult!) it can be hard to understand that emotions like sadness or worry are temporary and nothing to be ashamed of. With  Hibernate with Me, I wanted to create something as cozy and comforting as the books my parents read to me as a child. This book is really for all the wonderful little sensitive souls out there.”

Benjamin Scheuer is a Drama Desk Award–winning singer/songwriter and dramatist. His solo show The Lion toured the United States and Europe, with more than five hundred performances. His album Songs from The Lion was released in 2016, along with four animated music videos which have since been shown at more than fifty film festivals around the world. With photographer Riya Lerner, Scheuer created the book Between Two Spaces, the proceeds of which have raised thousands of dollars for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
