Book Trailer Premiere: Best Babysitters Ever by Caroline Cala
Happy, happy, happy Friday! I am celebrating the first Friday of 2019 with author Caroline Cala. She dropped by to chat with me about Best Babysitters Ever, school libraries, story, and her dog. I wrote the words in purple, and she wrote the words in black. Thank you, Caroline!
Malia, Dot, and Bree could not be more different, yet are completely complementary. People ask if they’re similar to the original Babysitters Club cast, but to be honest, they remind me more of The Golden Girls! (If The Golden Girls were in seventh grade, that is.) Such distinct personalities, but when you put them together, something wonderful happens.
Babysitting is like a choose-your-own-adventure book, where the children choose all the adventures. Every experience is different, and you never know what surprises are in store!
School libraries are where magic comes to life. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of browsing the Scholastic Book Fair or listening to my elementary school librarian read aloud as she seemingly effortlessly held a picture book facing outwards as only librarians can do. Seriously the best.
The Good, the Bad, and the Bossy is even wackier and more fun than the first book. And, it features a VERY personality filled cat that might just be my favorite character yet!
Story is essential. We must never forget that we get to make it up as we go along.
Mr. Schu, you should have asked me about my dog, Mia, who is currently sleeping at my feet! Or about my extensive book collection. Or about my super secret talent. Or about the next project I’m working on! But it’s better this way, because we can chat more in the future. Thanks so much for having me!
Look for Best Babysitters Ever on February 5, 2019.
Three friends. No parents. Unlimited snacks. And, okay, occasionally watching other people’s children. What could possibly go wrong?
