Book Trailer Premiere: The Miraculous by Jess Redman
Happy Wednesday! I interviewed Jess Redman about The Miraculous on October 8, 2018. She's back today to share the book trailer for The Miraculous. Thank you, Jess!
Hello, Mr. Schu! I’m delighted to be on Watch. Connect. Read. to share the book trailer for my debut middle-grade magical contemporary, THE MIRACULOUS!
Hello, Mr. Schu! I’m delighted to be on Watch. Connect. Read. to share the book trailer for my debut middle-grade magical contemporary, THE MIRACULOUS!
I’ve always loved the literary arts, but I don’t have many
(okay, any) skills in the visual arts
department. In spite of this, I was determined to make a book trailer. Because
like you, Mr. Schu, I think book trailers are a wonderful way to connect
readers to books. And also because I wanted to see Wunder and Faye ride those
bicycles right off the cover and all over Branch Hill.
Book trailer-making took me some time to figure out though.
My first attempt was nearly 3 minutes. Just a taaaaaad too long! My second
attempt was a little shorter but, well, boring. So I kept cutting and editing
and experimenting within my limited range of know-how, and finally (with a
little help) I created something I truly love.
I think this trailer captures the heart of THE MIRACULOUS—a
story about a miracle-collecting boy, a cape-wearing girl, a maybe-witch living
in a maybe-magical house, and a journey that leads to friendship, healing, and
miracles. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope it inspires you to read the story!
I want to thank Matt Rockefeller for his incredible cover
illustration, and Elizabeth Clark for her beautiful design work. And I want to
thank Dan Haring, an animator/illustrator and co-author of the upcoming THE
STAR SHEPHERD for his animation assistance!
And, of course, thank you to Mr. Schu for having me back and
for all the work you do getting stories into the hands of readers!
Look for The Miraculous on July 30, 2019.
