Bum, britches, patootie, bottom, rump, and bootie-trumpet.
Manatees fart sometimes to propel themselves through the water. It’s true. What noble and majestic creatures they are.
Heather’s illustrations always bring a smile to my face. They are incredibly cute and playful and expressive, they pop off the page! They inspire many stories.
Butts Are Everywhere’s cover features many of the characters you’ll see throughout the book!
Try to see if you can spot them all within the pages! It actually took quite a bit of back and forth between myself and the creative team at Penguin to figure out what the best direction for the cover was. This book encompasses so many different types of living things, so ultimately it seemed best to try to showcase that idea around the big, bold words “Butts are Everywhere!”
Buttocks is the scientific word for “butt”!
There are quite a few silly facts in this book, so you can just imagine how fun (and kind of strange) it was to research some of the things that ended up within the pages. My personal favorite word for “butt” is “bum.”
Did you know I created all the illustrations in this book whilst sitting on my bum?
It’s true! Some of my favorite places to work include sitting at my desk, on my sofa, at my kitchen table, or at various different cafes around my town!
Mr. Schu, you should have asked me...how did we come up with the idea for this book?
This was actually our very first children’s book we sold that broke us into the industry! We wanted to create something that was fun and silly, but yet a book that everyone would be able to relate to! And then we thought, what’s a word that kids just can’t help but chuckle at? “BUTTS!” Of course! We always get a laugh from kids when we read the line in Llama Destroys the World, “...they made his butt look groovy.” I can’t wait to see what kind to reaction we get to this book!
